Limited Release “Mazu Cup” Debuts: Blessed by Art — “A Sip of Peace and Protection”
Taiwan’s well-known local beverage brand WU'S BLACK TEA ICE has joined this year’s grand Mazu pilgrimage celebrations by launching a special collaboration. Through coordination by Uni-President Group’s art and culture brand Celestial Serendipity, Taiwanese artist Emily was invited to design a limited-edition “Mazu Cup.”
This project beautifully integrates traditional folk belief, contemporary artistic design, and Taiwan’s beverage culture. Centered on the theme of Mazu and floral elements, the design brings art beyond gallery spaces and into everyday life through a simple cup of tea. More than a cross-disciplinary creation, each sip conveys a heartfelt blessing of “peace with every sip,” infused with cultural depth and warmth.
Since its release, the limited-edition collaboration cups by WU'S BLACK TEA ICE have sparked widespread discussion and attracted collectors eager to own them. To deepen the playful connection with traditional beliefs, Celestial Serendipity also incorporated inspiration from traditional divination blocks (shengbei and jiaobei). This allows customers not only to enjoy their tea but also to experience a fun, temple-like ritual, creating a unique wave of culturally rich and engaging “blessing-themed” consumption.
Artist Emily approached the work with devotion, delicately portraying Mazu’s serene compassion and divine presence. Created using watercolor techniques, the artwork carries a fluid and luminous quality, evoking a peaceful and gentle atmosphere. Through her brushwork, traditional belief is transformed into a soft, healing cultural expression.
Two Limited Designs Include:

Baishatun MazuThis design features the “King of Flowers,” the peony, alongside the peony’s companion flower, the Chinese peony. The peony symbolizes prosperity and abundance, while the Chinese peony carries deeper meaning—its roots, stems, leaves, and flowers are all used in traditional medicine. Together, they reflect Mazu’s compassionate protection and her power to soothe and heal, offering blessings of physical and spiritual well-being to all.

Shanbian MazuThis version highlights the hydrangea “Endless Summer” as its central motif. Its soft yellow core resembles the first light of dawn, echoing the radiant glow of Mazu’s ceremonial crown and robe. The hydrangea’s full, rounded form creates a modern and elegant visual impression, symbolizing completeness, renewal, and hope under Mazu’s protection.
“Drinking tea is not just a daily habit—it is a cultural experience.” Through this collaboration with Celestial Serendipity, the brand hopes that more people can feel the sense of connection and blessings embedded in Taiwan’s local culture through every cup they hold.
As the Mazu pilgrimage unfolds, the limited-edition “Mazu Cup” will be released simultaneously in limited quantities across stores nationwide. More than just a beverage container, it serves as a portable symbol of protection—allowing people to savor tea while bringing home an artistic blessing infused with sacred meaning and gentle cultural warmth.
