Concept
Artistic creation is an introspective journey, a deep exploration of the self. Return to the Heart: The Fearless Bloom of Colors, presented by Celestial Serendipity, embodies this concept. This exhibition showcases key milestones in the artistic journey of Shih Feng Ying, including her 2018 award-winning work from the Dianmei Illustration Competition and her acclaimed piece from the 2022 International Artist Grand Prize Competition. These works not only highlight her perseverance and artistic evolution but also encapsulate her delicate reflections on life and the inner world. Through her canvases, she fearlessly unveils her truest colors, inviting viewers to embark on a journey of rediscovering their own hearts.
Shih Feng Ying’s creative process is guided by spontaneity, blending watercolors and acrylics with fluid brushstrokes and washes. By allowing pigments to flow naturally across the canvas, she intuitively shapes forms and imagery, contemplating their meanings and her emotional state before structuring the composition. Hold My Hand Tight emerged from this organic process. Initially, the painting revealed the figures of two girls—through introspection, the artist realized they represented different facets of herself: one as her external self, the other as the inner child within. When we hold onto our purest, most untainted selves, the noise of the world loses its power over us. The metallic sphere between the two figures symbolizes the profound connection between the inner and outer self, a reminder that as long as we anchor ourselves to our intrinsic worth, we can move forward fearlessly. Along this path, guardian angels are always watching over us. As Hans Christian Andersen once said, "The greatest thing in the world is to preserve a childlike heart."
Originally a graphic designer confined by commercial constraints, Shih Feng Ying found her creative expression constantly revised and reshaped by external demands. This struggle led her to pick up her paintbrush in 2015, seeking liberation through art—no longer creating for others, but instead using painting as a vessel for her emotions and thoughts. Over time, her artistic journey became a return to her true essence, a way to radiate her inner light onto the world. With this exhibition, she extends an invitation to every visitor: to reconnect with the purest emotions within, to engage in dialogue with oneself, and to embrace the innocence that resides in us all. As Antoine de Saint-Exupéry wrote in The Little Prince, "All grown-ups were once children... but only a few of them remember it."
We warmly invite you to step into this exhibition, to immerse yourself in the flowing emotions and colors of the artist’s work, and to find your own answers along this Return to the Heart. Let us all bloom fearlessly and embrace our most authentic selves.
